As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
With a name like Grim, this hotel doesn’t have to do much to make itself scary. Once a grandiose hub for Texarkana’s richest populous, its dilapidated appearance today will shock you to the very core. Whatever spirits wander these hallways are probably making their presence known on this Halloween night, and they implore you to join them.
Keep reading for an exclusive look inside the walls of this abandoned gem:
Built in 1925, Hotel Grim was the talk of Texarkana during a time when grandiose buildings were few and far between. Looking at its broken windows and molding walls, you'd never guess such a dilapidated building was once an architectural marvel - but indeed it was.
Made of stone walls and marble flooring, the lobby used to be a breathtaking sight. It contained a coffee shop, beauty parlor, barber shop, and drug store to meet any need a guest might've had during their stay.
On the eighth floor was a magnificent ballroom where businessmen, popular jazz bands, and even high-roller poker players gathered. A lush rooftop garden provided panoramic views of the dual-state town, quickly flourishing into Texarkana's premier weekend hotspot.
Legend has it, Bonnie and Clyde passed through the Grim on their infamous spree of lawlessness. The two were enjoying a sandwich in the cafe before hurriedly fleeing after getting recognized.
After closing its doors for good in 1990, cobwebs and vandals have since taken up residence within the hotel's walls. Plenty of paranormal activity is rumored to take place here as well, the consequences of nefarious activity that often goes along with elite parties.
You'll find Hotel Grim at 211 W 3rd St, Texarkana, TX 75501. Simply walking its grounds is an experience horrifying enough to keep you awake for weeks.

Though exploring it sounds fascinating, we implore you to only view the hotel from outside. Not only are the doors locked, but it’s also full of hazardous organisms after decades of abandonment.
