If you were sad about not getting to attend the State Fair of Texas this year, all hope isn’t lost — it’s going drive-thru! Just like old times, there’ll be fried Oreos, corn dogs, and midway prizes, all within the safety and comfort of your own vehicle. You even get to take a picture with Big Tex!
Since 1905, the State Fair of Texas (as we know it) has been a fall tradition in the Lone Star State. Thousands flood the gates to eat, drink, ride, play, and let out their inner child -- while Big Tex stands guard over the whole operation, of course.
The fair has only been canceled a handful of times since its inception, primarily during wartime. Unfortunately, 2020 will be another tally mark on the list -- but all isn't lost! On select dates in September and October, you can enjoy all the midway fun drive-thru style.
Two different admission packages feed between one and four people. You'll get either soft drinks or bottled water, plus a variety of classic concession stand snacks.
Your sweet tooth will likely be raging after all the salty goodness, and what better way to tame it than with some cotton candy? Each vehicle will also receive kettle corn.
You'll also receive midway prizes without even having to work for them! Oh, and each family gets a professional, downloadable photo with Big Tex himself. Yeehaw!
Packages are $65 if you’re feeding 1-2 people, $99 for 3-4, and $25 if you just want a photo with Big Tex. Visit the State Fair of Texas website or Facebook page to learn more and purchase tickets.
