Drive-in movie theaters aren’t quite as prevalent as they used to be, but there are still a few left in Texas! One such place is The Last Drive-In Picture Show in Gatesville, and it boasts double-features seven days a week plus a well-stocked concession stand.
Open since 1950, The Last Drive-In Picture Show plays a double feature 364 nights a year (only closed on Christmas Eve!) As you can see, there's room for plenty of vehicles, and the screen is big enough to guarantee everyone enjoys a great view.
As you pull in, a flashing neon sight establishes the retro vibe right away. It lets you know the movies being shown that night and at what times they air.
Some drive-in movies show classic films, but first-run flicks are the name of the game here. "Onward" and "The Call of the Wild," both rated PG, are playing through April 2.
Tickets for 2D movies are $5 for adults and $3.50 for children, while 3D films cost $7.50 and $5, respectively. Matinees (before 6 p.m.) for all ages are $3.50 for 2D; 3D $5.
A fully-stocked concession stand serves candy, popcorn, soda, nachos, hot dogs, pickles, and even whole pizzas. Rest assured you won't be without snacks to munch on during the movie!
