Everyone’s heard of Natural Bridge Caverns and Caverns of Sonora – both of which are undoubtedly beautiful – but sometimes it’s more fun to visit less-frequented attractions. This cave near Boerne is one of the deepest in Texas, with ancient rock formations abounding 80 feet underground…and it doesn’t even have a name!
The rather ominous cave entrance is like a portal to the underworld. All that stands between you and the deep, dark, nameless territory below is this wrought-iron gate.
A 126-step descent takes you 80 feet below the surface into one of our state's least-frequented cave systems. Complex formations show how truly amazing nature is, with intricate carvings that even the most talented sculptors could never recreate.
With a comfortable temperature of 66 degrees year-round, it's never a bad time to visit. Easily navigable walkways with no sharp incline make the tour accessible to almost everyone, and brilliant spotlights guide you while illuminating the surrounding rocky silhouettes.
Doubling as a venue for weddings, the Throne Room provides breathtaking surroundings guaranteed to make such an intimate occasion even more special. Musical performances also take place down here, the next one being a holiday concert on Saturday, December 22.
