Each year, the iconic San Antonio River Walk comes alive in a spectacular display of color in celebration of Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead. The annual Day of the Dead River Parade features 20 barges decked out from head to toe with altars, skeleton figures, and riders wearing their most festive costumes. Showcasing the rich heritage and lively spirit of the Alamo City, this family-friendly event simply can’t be missed this season.
San Antonio boasts the largest Day of the Dead celebration in the country, with festivities taking place from October 23 until November 2.
From traditional altars, or ofrendas, to live music and dance to local food and art, the events do a wonderful job of showcasing the Alamo City's rich heritage and commemorating the holiday.
One of the most anticipated Día de Muertos events in the city is the Day of the Dead River Parade, which features 20 barges decked out in fantastic displays of color.
Additionally, the Hard Rock Cafe, Biga on the Banks, and the Hilton Palacio del Rio will be offering dinner and ticket packages for the parade. Anyone interested is asked to contact the businesses directly.
Here, you'll find a handy map of the parade route that lists exactly what time the floats should arrive at various locations on the River Walk.
Feel free to print it out to ensure you don't miss a beat!
