9 Disturbing Cemeteries Around Dallas - Fort Worth That Will Give You Goosebumps

Laurel Land is often considered one of the most haunted cemeteries in the Lone Star State, perhaps because of its numerous reports of faint sounds of jazz and blues music late at night, when no living souls are thought to be around. Perhaps that’s because it is the final resting place of music greats Stevie Ray Vaughan, Artie Glenn, and B.W. Stevenson. For conspiracy theorists still searching for answers circling around President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, this is where Dallas police officer J.D. Tippit, said to also have been shot by Lee Harvey Oswald, was laid to rest.

Fort Worth’s oldest cemetery, which was founded in 1879, contains such notables as a Texas governor, confederate veterans, founding city fathers, colorful gunslingers, gamblers, and even a whole row of bartenders. Lore also surrounds The Witch's Tomb, which are said to contain a witch and her baby. At night, under a bright moon, you can hear a baby crying. Ghost hunters come here to find the Smiley gravesite, where paranormal activity is said to occur on a regular basis. An entire family was buried here after being killed by a tornado. Stories say that if you lay down on the grave at midnight, it will be difficult to sit back up, as if invisible arms are holding you down. Perhaps this is how the Smileys felt as they tried to hold on from being sucked up into the twister.
