The Dallas – Fort Worth area is continuously ranked as one of the top areas to live in the nation. Of course, locals have known that all along. Here are 19 reasons why the Metroplex is the best place to live and work:
1. We have sister cities here, doubling the jobs, places to live, and most definitely the fun.
Dallas continues to build, update, and modernize its downtown. Dallas' population ranks ninth in the U.S.
Fort Worth is no slouch either and is ranked as the 16th-largest city in the U.S. Together, the area is the fourth most populous area in America.
2. We have the most stunning state flower that lines our roadways and fields every spring.
The Texas bluebonnet is reason enough to fall in love with Texas in general.
3. We are a sports utopia.
We have a professional sports team here in baseball, basketball, hockey, football, and NASCAR. Maybe that is why we have so many thriving sports bars around here as well!
4. We have endless attractions.
...ranging from the Dallas World Aquarium...
...to Fort Worth's Japanese Gardens.
...to the incredible Water Gardens almost hidden in downtown Fort Worth.
5. We love our museums here.
Dallas' Perot Museum of Nature and Science is as interesting on the outside as are the indoor exhibits.
The renowned Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth uses reflection pools and outdoor spaces to draw patrons indoors.
6. We have free rides around the city.
Public transportation continues to grow and will eventually unite the entire Metroplex. You can hop on and off the McKinney Avenue Transit Authority's cars all day long in Dallas!
7. We have expansive trail systems and parks.
The Trinity Trail system follows our impressive Trinity River that weaves throughout Dallas - Fort Worth. These cyclists are enjoying the White Rock Lake area.
8. We have countless area lakes, where you can enjoy the most exquisite sunsets.
Lake Lewisville, shown here, is a popular lake that is easily accessible by patrons living on the north side of the area.
9. Arlington, our third largest city, is home to Six Flags over Texas.
Arlington is conveniently located in between Dallas and Fort Worth and is also home to the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
10. Fortune 100 companies love us here, and bring jobs and prosperity.
BNSF Railroad's headquarters is in Fort Worth, while Toyota landed in Dallas in 2017, for example.
11. We are the food capital of America, with more restaurants here than ANYWHERE!
That means diners like Norma's Café that serve breakfast round-the-clock...
...to restaurants that serve the BEST chicken-fried steak in the land (fried okra and mashed potatoes with cream gravy get extra points!)...
...of course Tex-Mex rules supreme here...
...as do Texas T-bones. (This one is from Riscky's Steakhouse in Fort Worth.) Hungry, yet?
12. We remember our historic role in building the Wild West.
The Fort Worth Stockyards remain a top destination attraction here.
We also have one of the biggest and best professional rodeos here in Fort Worth every year as well.
13. We dig our eclectic art.
Our "Eye" sculpture in downtown Dallas is a pretty good example of that!
14. We value education.
Texas Christian University in Fort Worth is just one example. Southern Methodist University in Dallas, the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of North Texas at Denton, and the University of Texas at Dallas are among others.
15. We protect our historic homes here.
New home construction continues at a frenzied pace but we protect our older neighborhoods and buildings here as well by giving them historical designations.
16. We actually LIKE our hot summers and mild winters.
There's always a way to cool off! And while it does get cold, give it a few days, and we'll be over it (literally).
17. We love our architecture.
Our buildings, like this Bank of America skyscraper, are bold, beautiful, and lit at night.
18. We have a ball in the sky.
Reunion Tower (and its nightly LED shows) is a city treasure.
19. The coolest bridges ever... designed to connect us...are in Dallas.
When finished, the cityscape will include three suspension bridges (there are two presently) with parks and trails all around.
Of course, this is by no means an exhaustive list about what is so great about Dallas – Fort Worth. What other reasons would you add? We’d also like to know where you are a native or a newcomer, and why you have chosen to make this area home sweet home!
