Southern comfort food is sacred to us here in Texas, and if it doesn’t taste exactly like mom used to make, we won’t touch it with a 10-foot pole. Coffee Shop Cafe, located in the small town of McGregor, serves all the classic dishes we grew up with buffet-style, so you can fill your plate ’till your heart’s content and enjoy every last nostalgic bite.

Just 20 minutes outside of Waco, the small town of McGregor, Texas (population: 5,144) is easy to miss if you aren't looking for it.
Farmhouse décor and pictures of the town cover the walls, and coffee mugs - paying homage to the restaurant's namesake - are hung everywhere you look.

The breakfast-until-dinner menu features a bevy of homestyle classics, including omelets, pancakes the size of your face, Texas-shaped waffles, burgers, and more beef, chicken, and seafood entrees than you could shake a stick at.
The famous Coffee Shop Cafe buffet runs from 4:45 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursdays, and there's rarely an empty seat to be found. For just $8.99 per person, you can enjoy unlimited chicken-fried-steak, enchiladas, fajitas, and more, filling your plate 'till your heart's content.
Don't fret if you can't make it on a Thursday - the buffet is offered every other day of the week, as well (lunch and dinner Monday-Wednesday, dinner only Friday-Saturday, and lunch only on Sunday.)
There's just one small, yet glaring difference: unlike Thursday evenings, it isn't all-you-can-eat. The portions are still plenty large, however, so you can rest assured you won't leave the table hungry.
Whatever you do, don't pass up the jalapeno cornbread.
