Not all of us have the luxury of being able to spend weeks jetting off to tropical islands, but everyone can fit a few day trips throughout the year. If you’re searching for day trips near me in Texas, today we’re headed to Seguin, a small town in South-Central Texas with a population of around 25,000. It also happens to be one of the oldest towns in the state, founded in 1838. It’s the perfect place to spend a day in, with just enough attractions to keep you entertained without feeling like you need more time to experience it fully. So, without further ado, let’s hop in the car and get going!

First things first: food! We can't take the day by storm on an empty stomach, so we'll kick things off with a hearty breakfast at Court Street Coffee Shop. This wonderful eatery is located in the heart of the Seguin, Texas historic district.

Now that our bellies are full, we can get on with the sightseeing. Seguin, Texas' downtown district is one of the most historic in the state since the town has been around since 1838. From the Sebastopol House pictured here (which was built out of limestone by slaves) to old hotels and other long-abandoned buildings to a Heritage Village with an old church, jail, and pioneer home, there's lots of history to soak in here.

And who could forget about the world's largest pecan? Every year at the end of October, the whole town goes nuts - figuratively. Pecan pies, ice cream, pralines, even pecan beer; you name it, you'll find it at the Pecan Fest Heritage Day.

The streets come alive with music, vendors, and food, and a lot of the historic museums open their doors for free. There's also a baking contest and a Tour de Pecan bike ride as well as a classic car show and the world's largest nutcracker collection. Trust me, y'all, you don't want to miss this. It's one of the best things to do in Seguin, Texas.
Now we're off on a little drive to just outside the city where Blue Lotus Winery lies. Take a sunset walk through the rows of plump grapes, visit the tasting room to sample Texas' finest wine and mead, and enjoy the simple luxury that is spending time outdoors in the Texas hill country.
