Outside of work, you can likely find her curled up on with a hot cup of coffee, practicing yoga, baking, or exploring the beautiful Lone Star State (in particular, the vast and mystical West Texas desert).
Few things in life are more “purr-fect” than that first sip of coffee, wouldn’t you agree? Cats are a close second, and one unique Houston cafe brings them both together. El Gato Coffeehouse serves piping hot cups joe and delicious bakery items, surrounded by dozens of adoptable kitties.
El Gato Coffeehouse proudly boasts its status as the first cat cafe in Houston. Step inside this charming little cottage and sip a piping hot mug of joe while mingling with friendly, four-legged felines.
Everywhere you look, adoptable kitties slink around in hopes of finding their "furrever" home. Guests who aren't looking to expand their family can enjoy cat therapy, which helps socialize the animals in preparation for the future.
A full drink menu features over 18 different hot and cold beverages, plus specialty options like a lavender "meowjito" and honey-infused earl grey "KiTtea". Snack on a cinnamon roll, kolache, muffin, warm chocolate chip cookie, or vegan coconut dream bar as you fawn over the cuteness all around.
Special events like "Meowvie Night" are held on a regular basis. The lights are dimmed, blankets + pillows laid out, and film put on for all to enjoy - human or not. Since the movies always feature cats, no need to worry about your feline friend getting bored!
On select Sundays, you can even do yoga with the little balls of fur. Their favorite pose by far is cat/cow, so prepare to get a nice and deep stretch.
Entry is $11 for adults, $10 for students, and $8 for children. Special events cost extra, but please remember that it's for a good cause! Proceeds keep the coffeehouse afloat in addition to benefiting Friends For Life, a local animal shelter that processes the cat adoptions.
