Outside of work, you can likely find her curled up on with a hot cup of coffee, practicing yoga, baking, or exploring the beautiful Lone Star State (in particular, the vast and mystical West Texas desert).
If your idea of fun includes cozying up with a captivating read and steaming cup of coffee, do we have the festival for you. The annual Texas Book Festival is coming up later this month in Austin, and over 250 nationally + critically recognized authors of both adult and children’s books will be in attendance. The question is: will YOU be joining them? Keep reading for all the juicy details.
Held annually at the Capitol building in late October or early November, this unique festival is an ideal way to usher in autumn. Leaves will be just starting to change, rustling in the cool breeze as you search for the perfect read to curl up with on a cozy fall morning.
Over 250 authors of all genres are expected to attend, some well known and others just beginning to make their way out of the underground. Whether you like politics, true-crime, or cookbooks, rest assured there'll be plenty of options.
This year's festival takes place on October 27 & 28, conveniently a mere few days before Halloween. Pick up an enthralling horror novel to help get you in the holiday spirit, but beware - as soon as the first page is turned, you might find yourself cursed with the inability to put it down.
Coffee and books are like peanut butter and jelly: they simply belong together. Pop into one of many downtown shops and pick up a cup to power you through a long day of meeting authors!
Listen to captivating stories about what inspired some of the books, from hard-hitting global issues to dreams that begged to be chased. Reading a novel is one thing, but hearing how it went from bones to a full-blow masterpiece is absolutely enthralling.
If you get tired of staring at words, there are plenty of other fun activities to partake in. Live music, local food trucks, and arts + crafts keep the party going all weekend long!
There are several ways to leave your mark on the festival when all is said and done. Sign the giant wall and don't forget to buy a book or two - sales benefit child literacy programs and library grants!
The festival will be held on the grounds of the State Capitol Building on Saturday, October 27 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 28 from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
