It’s so crazy to think that an entire month of 2018 has already gone by! Before the rest of the year gets away from us, let’s aim to explore as much of Texas as we possibly can. These 10 awesome attractions are a great place to start.
1. Alpine
With a population of just over 6,000 as of 2013, Alpine makes up for what it lacks in size with a West Texas spirit larger than the state itself. Next time you're out in the desert, stop by and experience all there is to see and do in this hidden oasis.

2. Caprock Canyons (Quitaque)
There's a certain mystique that can only be found in the middle of the desert. We don't even have to trek all the way out to Arizona to experience this majesty - there's plenty of it right here in Texas.

3. Big Bend
Not only do canyons abound in Texas, but mountains stretch as far as the eye can see as well. The Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park just might be the most beautiful natural wonder in the state.

4. Gorman Falls (Bend)
Nobody really pictures the Lone Star State being full of towering waterfalls, but there's one major exception: Gorman Falls in Colorado Bend State Park. Considering how people commonly picture our state being full of nothing but tumbleweeds, this breathtaking phenomena will drop your jaw wide open.

5. Terlingua
There are plenty of ghost towns in Texas - that only makes sense considering the size and history of our state. None of these towns, however, are quite as iconic as Terlingua. Not only does it have a rich past, abandoned buildings, and a spooky cemetery, but it's also home to some of the best chili in the world.

6. Jacob's Well (Wimberley)
I know it's only February, but summer temperatures will be here before we know it. As you start to plan your outdoor activities for the season, don't pass up Jacob's Well in Wimberley. This magical grotto will simultaneously fascinate you and make your heart pound with adrenaline.

7. Mary's Cafe (Strawn)
Being that chicken-fried steak is one of the most popular foods in Texas, it's hard to find a restaurant that doesn't have it on the menu. Some places, however, do it much better than others, and Mary's Cafe in Strawn quite possibly serves the very best CFS in the state. The meat is tender and juicy, outside is fried to perfection, and gravy is rich and creamy as can be.

8. Hamilton Pool (Dripping Springs)
If there's one water attraction you visit this summer, let it be Hamilton Pool. You truly haven't experienced the beauty of Texas until you've been here.

9. Devil's River (Del Rio)
It's easy for bodies of water to get murky and brown when tons of waste and oil flow into them every day. The only exceptions to this disheartening fact seem to be places hidden far away from civilization, like the Devil's River in Del Rio. This sapphire stream is easily the bluest, most beautiful water in Texas - and few people even know it exists.

10. Dinosaur World (Glen Rose)
We may not know much about dinosaurs, but that doesn't take away any of our appreciation towards the ancient beasts. Dinosaur World in Glen Rose lets us learn more about them through fossil digging, admiring life-sized statues, and even see a real dino skeleton.

11. Franklin Barbecue (Austin)
Barbecue is the other most iconic Texas food besides chicken-fried steak. We know it like the back of our hand and aren't afraid to wait hours to sink our teeth into some delicious meat (as you can see here.) Franklin barbecue in Austin has ranked in the top five best joints in the state for consecutive years, and it would be a crying shame if you didn't try it out in 2018.
