We Texans have known for a long time that unassuming, small-town restaurants serve the best food, but hard proof now confirms that belief. Mia Marco’s Pizza near San Antonio just beat out contenders from all over the globe in a brutal culinary battle, and it’s not hard to understand why.
Without so much as a legitimate building to operate out of, Mia Marco’s Pizza rose above fine restaurants from all over the globe. This unassuming San Antonio area food truck was recently given the impressive accolade of "Best Roman Pizza" In the entire world.
Having previously been nothing more than a local hangout spot, getting catapulted into the statewide food scene has taken some adjusting. The menu is currently limited due to high demand, but crowd favorites like this masterpiece aren’t going anywhere. With three cheeses, red sauce, basil, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, you’re looking at the prizewinning pie.
A white pie appeals to the most simplistic palates. Fresh mozzarella, garlic, olive oil, and spinach combine for, as Mia Marco’s calls it, "a salad and breadstick all in one."
If you like a little heat, the aptly named Volcano delivers a swift kick to the tongue. Jalapeños and sriracha bring the flames, mellowed out by cheese and pineapple to create a culinary sensation.
