Tucked away between Houston and Galveston, this small, coastal town is worth visiting for this restaurant alone. The mac and cheese is just that good! Much like its name suggests, The Backyard is a cozy neighborhood eatery where friends gather to enjoy good times over great food.
The ambiance feels much more like a hangout spot than a restaurant. There are several couches where patrons can settle in and play video games, big screen TVs allow for watching the big game while sipping a drink, and dim lighting keeps the mood relaxed and low-key.
If you like to keep things classic, go with the OG Mac. Featuring chewy, bouncy noodles enveloped in a silky smooth Parmesan and Cheddar cheese sauce, it's simple, yet mouthwateringly delicious.
Toppings include meats like bacon, Andouille sausage, and even fried chicken bites, avocado, fried eggs, truffle oil, and more. There is also a vegan mac and cheese with roasted garlic, spinach, and broccoli, and any mac can be made gluten-free for an extra $1.95.
