Although we can’t deny that the best parks in the state are off the beaten path, it isn’t always practical to travel hundreds of miles to enjoy the great outdoors. Those who live the 9-5 life will be delighted to learn that many cities have urban parks that offer plenty of free activities and sunshine to brighten up even the most monotonous of days. Klyde Warren Park in Dallas has brought the city together in unimaginable ways since its construction, and everyone should visit at least once.
Situated directly over the Woodall Rogers Freeway, the park serves as a central gathering place for Dallesites and visitors alike. It spans 5.2 acres and includes a performance pavilion, walking trails, dog + children's parks, and a large grassy area for playing.
From yoga to lecture series and everything in between, you can enjoy all sorts of different activities no matter the day or season. The park's mission is to provide a free space for both education and fun that enriches the lives of all who visit, and it's accomplished that goal ten times over.
Every Thursday, gather on the lawn to enjoy the sounds of local musicians and DJs. Grab a bite from one of the many surrounding food trucks or pack a picnic, and relax as the music fills your ears through the start of fall.
The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Whether it's an early morning run or moonlight stroll after a night on the town that tickles your fancy, this incredible almost never sleeps.
So next time you're in the Dallas area, head over to 2012 Woodall Rodgers Freeway
Dallas, TX 75201. Bring the kids + pets, indulge in delicious eats, and slow down for a minute as you enjoy nature in the heart of the city.
