I’m on a quest to explore as many small towns in Texas as I possibly can, and one of my all-time favorites is Bandera. This charming Hill Country town has a decidedly Western flair – and some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever come across. From natural wonders to history museums to the best cabin rental in Bandera, Texas, these are some of my favorite things to do in town. I can’t imagine a better place to stay (or a better town to escape to) when you need some peace and quiet.
Bandera is so quintessentially Texas, and we love it for that.
The self-proclaimed "Cowboy Capital of the World," Bandera is a Texas Hill Country town that was located along the Great Western Cattle Trail in the second half of the 19th century.
A visit to the Frontier Times Museum is all it takes to see that the Old West is still alive and well here. Although the museum isn't huge, it's jam-packed with artifacts from and information about American frontier times through WWII.

If you aren't a history buff but you are a nature lover, you'll also enjoy Bandera. It's home to the Hill Country State Natural Area, which preserves over 5,000 acres of rugged and virtually untouched landscape.

The pristine Medina River also runs through Bandera. If it's too cold to tube, a kayaking trip through the majestic trees that sit along its shores never disappoints.
Open since 1921, it's the oldest continuously operating restaurant in town, specializing in hearty, home-cooked meals like chicken-fried steak, burgers, and Southwestern fare.

When you aren't out exploring the area, kick back and relax in the gorgeous outdoor space. With a shared pool and game barn, barbecue pit, and lots of patio furniture, this backyard oasis is perfect for unwinding.
Even better, guests have access to a private hot tub complete with magical string lights and lush surroundings. Soak away your aches and pains after a full day of adventures. I don't think I would ever want to leave this spot!
