The River Walk is the center of activity in San Antonio. Tons of shops and restaurants are located along the water, and you can even take gondola rides to take in the sights in a fun and different way.
Of course the Alamo is a must-visit. The battle that was fought here many years ago played an integral role in our state's history, and paying homage to it and all the soldiers who served and died there is important.
Mission San Jose was the largest of all the missions and has been almost fully restored to its original design. It's one of the best examples we have of how missions might have looked over 250 years ago.
When night falls, a trip to the San Fernando Cathedral would be impossible to pass up. A breathtaking 24-minute show by French artist Xavier de Richmont is projected onto the face of the cathedral every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 9, 9:30, and 10pm. It's the experience of a lifetime, y'all.
Go underground for a bit at Natural Bridge Caverns and marvel at the incredible rock formations in the largest commercial caverns in our state. If you're the adventurous type, there are even special tours that require hardhats, ropes, and other cave equipment and take you to areas that are otherwise restricted.

There's plenty of above-ground nature to enjoy, as well. The San Antonio Botanical Garden is a 33-acre park with tons of unique flowers, trees, other plants, and even birds to look at.
Watch the night sky come to life as the Tower of the Americas and surrounding buildings illuminate the darkness. The tower is 750 feet tall and even has a restaurant at the top! It's a truly unique experience that you can't get many other places.
Not far from the tower is the La Villita Historic Arts Village, a downtown community with art galleries, souvenirs, jewelry, pottery, and imported Mexican art. It's connected to the River Walk and is extremely close to the Alamo, mall, and several restaurants. A trip to the city wouldn't be complete without strolling through this ethnic, vibrant place.
