We love all kinds of meat here in Texas, but bacon has to be one of our favorite types. There’s nothing quite like waking up to the sound of crackling grease – especially when the crispy deliciousness is accompanied by fluffy scrambled eggs and flaky buttermilk biscuits.
Our love for bacon runs so deep that we have an entire festival dedicated to it. It isn’t until the end of October, but tickets are already on sale and going fast! With delicious food and drinks and live entertainment, it’s a fun, food-filled day you won’t soon forget.
Bacon Bash was born in 2012 to help Pederson's Natural Farms raise money and awareness for Type 1 Diabetes. The company donates 750 pounds of bacon to the event, making it the largest festival of its kind in the nation.
It all goes down at Cranfill Gap, a tiny Central Texas community that's quickly coming out of hiding due to all the publicity the bash receives. With a main street full of old-fashioned buildings like Horny Toad Bar & Grill, this little village will take you back to the Old West in no time.
With a cook-off, auction, merch table, and live entertainment, there isn't a single dull moment all day. Over 2400 people attended last year, and that number is only expected to get bigger. Judging by this picture alone, it appears the festival is a crowd pleaser!
Want your award-winning recipe shared with consumers at every grocery store that sells Pederson's bacon? Win the cook-off and your recipe will be printed on the back of their packaging for all to see.
We hope you'll be bringing your Texas-sized appetite to the festival! There'll be bacon appetizers, entrees, desserts, and even drinks - and while some of that might sound a bit weird, we promise you won't be able to stop trying samples until you have to be rolled home like an overstuffed pig.
Speaking of bacon drinks, have you ever had a Bloody Mary infused with it? Yeah, we didn't think so. There's no better place to try your first one than America's largest event dedicated to the crispy deliciousness.
The entertainment this year includes Lucas Creek, Giovannie & The Hired Guns, Copper Chief, and Eleven Hundred Springs. The stage is going to be absolutely on fire, so be sure to stay and listen to some tunes!
