You’ll love the scrumptious home-cooking, peaceful oak trees, and friendly atmosphere. Sweet nostalgia is all around. This restaurant near Austin used to be a gas station, and they now serve the most amazing wood-oven pizzas.
This neighborhood favorite was built in the '80s at an intersection in what was once known as Hays City. It began its life as a simple gas station and convenience store, but it underwent several changes as time went on.
Locals flocked to this lovely breakfast and lunch counter every day. Eventually, this eatery expanded into a full-blown restaurant. In March of 2015, Hays City Store started serving epic chicken fried steaks and mouthwatering craft beer.

Hays City Store underwent one last change in 2017 when owners Tamra and Travis Tindol added an ice house to the property. Today, this restaurant is home to over 40 different beer taps, 5 large-screen TVs, and an impressive oak garden. On breezy weekend evenings, you're likely to hear some toe-tapping live music on the outdoor stage.
