Civil War veteran August Scholz set the groundwork for this iconic venue, and it continues to dazzle Austinites today. Austin’s very first German restaurant has literally been around forever.

That's right -- Scholz Garten isn't just Texas' longest standing restaurant. It's claim to fame goes beyond the Lone Star State. For centuries, this downtown hot spot has been a hub for live music, tailgating parties, and good cheer.

Scolz Garten has a wide variety of local craft brews on tap, of course, but that's only the beginning. This welcoming beer garden recently expanded their drink menu to include various types of liquor and cocktails. There's really something for everyone here.
They've even revamped their menu to include some mouthwatering Texas treats.

You'll adore their smoky brisket and turkey. When you drizzle some of their excellent barbecue sauce on top, you'll be in heaven. In addition to these Texan classics, Scholz Garten whips up authentic German spaetzle and veal meatballs.
