What if you could revisit your childhood just by entering a single store? Atkinson Candy Company in Lufkin, Texas is one such place, dishing out their world-famous peanut butter bars since the 1930s.

It all started in 1932, when husband and wife B.E. and Mabel Atkinson had to figure out a way to make money during the Great Depression.
They decided on something that was not only cheap enough for anyone to afford, but also put a smile on the faces of people young and old.
While the factory looks quite a bit different than it did 80 years ago, very little about the actual candy making process has changed - and that's all that truly matters, anyway.
Instead of trying to fix something that was never broken in the first place, Atkinson's stands by the tried-and-true family recipes that turned them into a household name.
