Ranked the 4th-best brewery in the nation by the US Beer Open Championship, Altstadt brings a taste of the Old World to the Texas Hill Country.
This Bavarian-inspired watering hole is a local favorite for not only award-winning, German-style sips, but great food, live music, and unparalleled views, as well. You'll find the brewery on US-290 in Fredericksburg, and hours are 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, 12 p.m. - 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday.
The taproom offers ample seating, but when the weather is nice, most patrons opt to enjoy their ale outside in the biergarten.
Looking out on the gorgeous surroundings, the patio is perfect for stargazing, admiring the undulating hills that extend in all directions, or catching an iconic Central Texas sunset. There's also an outdoor bar that sells beer and snacks on Saturdays.

Roughly a dozen beers are on-tap at any given time, available in both flights and full glasses.
These traditional brews adhere to the 1516 German Beer Purity Law, using only the finest imported ingredients and Texas water. From Lager to Kolsch to the crowd-favorite Altstadt Light, there's a flavor profile sure to please every palate.
German classics like sausage, Bavarian pretzels, and schnitzel mingle with burgers, club sandwiches, and ribeye steak for an incredibly well-rounded menu.
Brunch is served on Sundays, and we can't imagine a better way to close out the weekend.
