Tennessee has been getting a lot of buzz lately, mainly for the progressive reality of our state, the booming businesses that have popped over state lines and that ever-iconic city of Nashville. Where we see the beauty in each of those spaces, our hearts belong somewhere a little lesser known, but stunning no matter. If you haven’t made your way out to Knoxville, Tennessee just yet, you may want to plan a visit.
Knoxville is the largest city on the eastern side of the state, boasting the University of Tennessee and some of the most affordable living in the state. Plus, it's only a hop, skip and a jump from the mountains that skirt the state line.
If you've ever seen the Knoxville skyline, then you've probably caught a glimpse of the iconic Sunsphere. It was built in 1982 for the widely attended World's Fair. It remains a testament to a time that once was, watching over the quiet city.

Knoxville is nothing if not a river city, so if you're catching a game at Neyland Stadium or wandering the city from one side to the other, then you'll wand to traverse the waterways for a stunning view.

Market Square is located right in the center of Knoxville's downtown area, and is one of the most popular spots for visitors. It was first utilized in 1854 as a spot for farmers to sell their wares. Now, you'll find locals enjoying afternoon shopping and delicious drinks along the highly trafficked corridor.
Hotels tend to be very affordable, especially if you're planning on a night at the Bijou Theater or spending the evening shopping at Union Ave Books or the quirky Mast General Store.
Walland isn't too far away and is home to the renowned Barn at Blackberry Farm. It makes for a great day trip outside of the city and heralds a geographical region that boasts good eats.
