We’ve found some of the best spots in the state for viewing these beauties, so be sure to visit a few of these flower fields in Tennessee before they disappear this year.

1. South Cumberland State Park

South Cumberland State Park is actually ten different areas over four counties on the top of the Cumberland Plateau near Monteagle. Each area highlights the best scenery in the state, including beautiful wildflower displays every Spring and Summer.

2. Roan Mountain

Roan Mountain in Northeast Tennessee is known for being home to the largest natural rhododendron garden in the world. They typically bloom in full force in June, which is also when you can attend the local Rhododendron Festival.

3. Shelby Bottoms

East Nashville's favorite park, Shelby Bottoms hugs the Cumberland River along the east side of East Nashville and has plenty of wildflower and natural grass fields that are the perfect oasis in the big city.

5. Rogers Walk Trail

This delightful hidden gem is a great place to enjoy spring flowers in Tennessee. The trail is about 2.4 miles in a handy dandy loop formation that makes it easy to wander on a warm spring day. You'll find it in the Ellington Agricultural Center. You are sure to spot beautiful wildflowers as well as a few hidden surprises like grazing horses, gently flowing streams, and little wooden bridges near an enchanting gazebo.

6. Memphis Botanic Garden

The Memphis Botanic Garden is another great example of a wildflower oasis in the middle of the big city. The garden does have an entry fee, but it's open to the public year-round, and it's well worth the visit.

7. Overton Park

Overton Park in the heart of Memphis is home to one of the only remaining old-growth forests in Tennessee, and this natural ecosystem is home to hundreds and hundreds of native Tennessee wildflowers. Visit the Memphis Zoo or the Brooks Museum of Art while you're at the park.

8. Taylor Hollow State Natural Area

One of the most underrated natural attractions in the state, Taylor Hollow touts itself as one of the last remaining undisturbed forests in Tennessee, and of course, that means the forest floor is covered with wildflowers. The 2.5-mile trail that winds through the park is the perfect way to take it all in. The land is privately owned, so you need to contact the Tennessee Nature Conservancy for access.

Where can I find wildflowers near me in Tennessee?
With incredible natural spaces in Tennessee, there is no shortage of flower fields in Tennessee. Here are a few of our favorite places to find wildflowers near us in Tennessee:

  • Cades Cove, Townsend, TN: Cades Cove is a wonderful spot in Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountain area. In the spring, this gorgeous countryside explodes with colorful rhododendrons, mountain laurels, azaleas, butterfly weeds, lady slippers, and bunches and bunches of other fragrant wildflowers. With the ghostly Smokies in the background and lush green foliage surrounding the delicate flowers, it is simply one of our favorite moments to witness.
  • Standing Stone State Park, Hilham, TN: In northern middle Tennessee sandwiched between Celina and Livingston, you'll find this hidden gem state park with some of our favorite hiking trails. Standing Stone Lake Trail, as you might imagine takes you around the beautiful Standing Stone Lake through a lovely wooded area filled with budding trees and vibrant wildflowers in the spring. You'll also discover an old boathouse near a dam that created a nice little waterfall.
  • Seven Islands State Birding Park, Near Knoxville, TN: You just know a birding park is going to have plenty of beautiful wildflowers to attract all of those birds, butterflies, and bees, and well, us grateful humans. With eight miles of trails to explore you can lose yourself in Tennessee beauty for hours. As the French Broad River curves around your trail, you can catch a glimpse of the Great Smoky Mountains in the distance. Another fun feature of this trail that we like is the old barn sitting in the lush green grass surrounded by the scent of spring.
