There is a certain charm about Tennessee, a state that’s home to the friendliest folks you’ve ever met and the most beautiful little downtown areas. There are some impossibly charming towns in Tennessee, and today, we have another wonderful town to highlight for you. Wartrace, Tennessee, is a Mayberry-like town that is undoubtedly charming and worth the visit.
Like many Tennessee towns, Wartrace prospered during the railroad boom in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Being a great place to connect Chattanooga and Nashville, Wartrace saw alot of activity that help create growth. The town, however, isn’t without its own claims to fame.
The Tennessee Walking Horse was bred by Wartrace horse breeders to create a farming horse that had a smooth ride for those in the saddle.

These beautiful beasts become a big part of the town's history starting back in the '20s and have remained important to this day. An annual event takes place where they trout these magnificent creatures through downtown. If you love horses, the Tennessee Walking Horse National Museum is the place for you.

It has been said that Wartrace is a Mayberry-like town and we couldn’t agree more.
Everyone who is visiting is treated like family in this unique artistic treasure trove. You can shop for interesting one-of-a-kind gifts but you are mostly invited to take a seat and stay awhile. Grab a book and sit by the fireplace, watch an old movie, or spend some time with the locals and sip some tea or coffee.

Like the name implies, a visit will feel just like going to your own grandmother's house. The menu boasts an eclectic mix but fried seafood is the specialty. For something a little bit different, try the frog legs.
