As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Waterfront getaways in Tennessee are among some of my favorites. In addition to our numerous bodies of water, we have some amazing waterfalls in Tennessee . So when it comes to getting the chance to stay at any one of these accommodations only steps away from the water, well, that’s an opportunity you will not want to pass up.
1. Log Cabin on Miller’s Falls, Tracy City
Tracy City, TN 37387, USA
A wooded retreat into the Cumberland Platue will always do your heart well. This is a classic log cabin stay where you will have all the amenities you need in a charming and rustic setting. This stay is sure to give you that "family camp in the mountains" vibe.
Even cooler? Located on the property is a stunning 50-foot private waterfall you can walk to. There are plenty of other hiking opportunities during your stay so bring your best trail shoes because you can escape into the forest and after exploring nature you will rest easy back at
the log cabin on Miller's Falls .
2. Spivey Falls Cabin, Erwin
The Spivey Falls Cabin is among my favorite accommodations on this list because not only do you get to stay in a classic cabin, but you can see the waterfall from inside. No hiking is required; open the windows on the back porch and listen to the soothing sound of the water cascading down. This impressive waterfall pools below and makes a great place to splash and enjoy during the heat of the day. At night, let the falling water lull you to sleep... I can’t think of a more relaxing kind of place.
The Spivey Falls Cabin is located deep enough in the woods that you will find solitude but you are just minutes away from town if you need anything. During your stay, I would also recommend the nearby
Martin Creek Falls trail -- if, that is, you can pull yourself away from the private waterfall right outside of your cabin's windows.
3. Waterfall Woods Lodge, Sevierville
If you are looking for a big family getaway to the Great Smoky Mountains, the
Waterfall Woods Lodge is one of the best options. With enough room to host 16, you can bring along your family and closest friends. The waterfall is only steps away from the backyard so you will be able to hear it while you soak in the hot tub or as a backdrop to the crackling campfire at night.
Not only is the babbling brook a huge draw to this property, but the
Waterfall Woods Lodge is an amazing place to stay in and of itself. With an expansive game room, big common areas, and plenty of space for everyone to spread out, this is the perfect "big group" getaway in Tennessee.
If you want to make your Smoky Mountain vacation even more memorable, I suggest taking a trip to the sky with
Scenic Helicopter Tours . We did the Ridge Runner Tour and it stands as one of my most treasured memory moments.
4. The Waterfall Cabin, Sevierville
Located right between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, you will be nestled in the heart of the Smoky Mountain region with a stay at
The Waterfall Cabin . This brilliantly made Airbnb was strategically built around the natural forest and showcases the trickling water from the rocky landscape. Each platform is perched with great views of the cascading falls and the sound of running water will always accompany you wherever you are on the property.
Being so close to many attractions provides guests with a wide range of activities to enjoy. As a bonus to your stay at
The Waterfall Cabin , you will receive a complementary one-person ticket to many of the fun places in the area. With your golden ticket in hand, I suggest taking a trip to the
Titanic Museum and learn about this fascinating piece of history.
5. Mountain View Waterfall Cabin, Sevierville
A
mountain view waterfall cabin awaits in Sevierville, Tennessee. This dreamy escape is perched high giving guests a great view of the surrounding mountains and features a flowing waterfall right on the property. Inside you will find a well-built, all-wooden structure that's the peak of rustic luxury.
Reservations come with free tickets to some of the area's top attractions. So take advantage of this and plan a trip to the mountaintop attraction of
Annakeesta . I also highly recommend going to Astra Lumina at night, which was the best thing we did when we went there.
6. Rock Creek Cabin
Rock Creek Cabin is a rustic retreat in Del Rio, which is found near the North Carolina border in East Tennessee. This forested getaway surrounds guests with many opportunities to get outside and soak in the natural beauty of the land. The Cherokee National Forest and many hiking trails can be found just outside the front door. The main attraction is Rock Creek Falls; the owners have even built a waterfall room where you can sit and enjoy the view of this impressive waterfall! This cabin is a great spot for a relaxing and secluded mountain getaway.
7. The Lazy Bear, Spencer
The Lazy Bear is located in Spencer, a prime location for some waterfall chasing in Tennessee. Staying at this cabin, you will be within a short drive from some of the best waterfalls in Tennessee --
Fall Creek Falls State Park ,
Burgess Falls State Park ,
Cummins Falls State Park , and
Rock Island State Park all boast beauteous falls.
Not only will you be able to hike to these glorious waterfalls and state parks from the cabin, but you will have a trickling cascade right in the backyard! This quiet and peaceful cabin is a welcomed retreat from the busy world where you can just sit and relax after exploring the local gems.
8. The Loft At Old Falls, Lyles
The Loft at Old Falls is an unplugged destination where you and your significant other can get away for a romantic weekend. Not only is this loft a cozy place to settle down for the night, but you can let the romantic sparks fly as you lounge by your very own private waterfall. The whole place is positioned to make the most of the scenic view. Snuggle up to your loved one in an intimate setting and make good use of the gorgeous backdrop of Old Falls.
Feeling romantic? Treat your spouse to a lovely trip to
The Loft At Old Falls -- you won’t regret it!
9. The Suite At Waterloo Falls, Cookeville
The Suite at Waterloo Falls features 2,000 feet of scenic riverfront property with not one waterfall -- but two! This is a special Airbnb since you will get the opportunity to stay only feet away from a duo of dynamic waterfalls. This is a remote area known for an abundance of wildlife, so sit back and relax as you watch the natural world move all around you. Birds will sing overhead, geese will float down the stream, and you can allow the flowing water to wash away all worry. The accommodation itself is fully stocked with everything you need to have a great trip, but the key feature is to surround yourself in the beautiful great outdoors, which is easy to do at this cabin.
10. Glenn Falls Retreat, Chattanooga
I love the city of Chattanooga, with the majestic Lookout Mountain towering in the background from all angles.
Glenn Falls Retreat puts guests at the base of the mountain and right next to
Glen Falls . From the back porch, you can hear the cascading water as a peaceful soundtrack to your stay. The Airbnb itself is filled with all of the comforts of home and you are sure to feel right at home in this cozy rental.
Location is key, with the cabin simultaneously secluded AND mere minutes from downtown Chattanooga. If you fancy yourself a waterfall chaser, you simply can not leave the area until you visit our famous underground waterfall called
Ruby Falls .
What do you think of these incredible waterfall getaways in Tennessee? I have a feeling we have a few more entries into our bucket lists after this. If you are like me and are looking for all of the Tennessee waterfalls then I would highly recommend getting the AllTrails+ app , it is something I take with me every time I hit the trail. So whether you you booking a night to stay right next to a waterfall or are hiking to see some remote waterfalls I encourage you to get outside and enjoy our beautiful state.
