There are certain places you cannot forget. Beautiful streams and rivers, the church where vows were said, the one street where you first lived, small and unaware of the world around you. Here in Leipers Fork, Tennessee, the 1892 Restaurant remains both eloquently designed and completely unforgettable. Located in one of the most picturesque and remote small towns in Middle Tennessee, it’s a must-try and a must-visit. You may just find it repeatable if only to revisit the beautiful experience you’d had before. Learn all about it below!
1892 Restaurant is tucked away in the heart of Leiper's Fork, a small town located in the "Napa Valley of Tennessee." It's home to the original Puckett's Grocery that has since become a profitable local chain, and the Country Boy Restaurant remains a morning staple for locals. In 2017, the 1892 Restaurant opened for business in a building that was built in, you guessed it, 1892.
Owners Dylan and Jordan Morrison wanted to honor the history of the house as it shifted into its contemporary offerings as an approachable fine dining experience. Inside you'll find shimmering chandeliers firmly ensconced in the ceilings, a historic fireplace, and world-worn hardwood floors that exhibit just the right amount of history.
The decor is both tasteful and country-chic. Homey, thoughtfully designed, and a true nod to the area, 1892 is perfect for everything from a mid-week dinner to a special celebration.
Make sure you take note of the plant life and botanical focus in the area as well. You'll find a blooming botanical influence at 1892, as well as in the surrounding community.
The menu is both decadent and Southern inspired. Ingredients and produce are sourced from local farms, which results in a flavorful experience no matter which dish you order. The halibut is popular, and locals rave about the shrimp and grits and seasonal pasta options.
Of course, there are classics available on the menu as well. Not feeling up to trying something new? No worries. 1892 has you covered with options like pork belly and braised short bridge firmly situated on the menu. Yum!
Make sure that you check the 1892 Restaurant social media channels for up-to-the-minute information, but you can usually visit for yourself during lunch and dinner hours throughout the week. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
