The Bushwacker is a cross between an indulgent cocktail and an adult milkshake, and it’s perhaps best known for beginning in the heart of the Volunteer State. The Bushwacker owes its earliest beginnings to the Sapphire Pub in Sapphire Village, St. Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands. It was created by Angie Conigliaro and Tom Brokamp, then named after a dog in the restaurant known as Bushwack.

It was then brought to the United States by Linda Murphy, a woman who owned a Pensacola Beach bar. In fact, the drink was so popular in Florida, that there has been a Bushwacker Festival held every year since 1986 to honor the boozy beverage.
