My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
We all had a dream as a kid of what we would become as we grew up. We had a sense of wonder when we looked at the stars and thought about what it would be like to travel through the vastness of space. Some of us looked at dinosaur bones and imagined what it would be like to discover the mystery of the past through fossils. Others of us were allured by the pure magic that science produces and wanted to learn how to invent and create like the great scientist we watched. Whatever the draw was we can all pinpoint a sense of imagination and wonder at discovering the world around us. There is a hands-on museum in Union City, Tennessee that plays a role in all of these childhood dreams.
The Discovery Park of America is more than just a hands-on museum, it is an epicenter of fun and learning.
Sitting on 50 acres of old cotton fields, this rural place has made a name for itself as one unique attraction. With 100,000 square feet of indoor space, they have plenty of room to pack in as much hands-on learning as possible. The mission is simple, allow children to explore, touch, and experience lots of new ideas all in hopes of creating the next great experts in those fields when they grow up.
Large dinosaur fossils are always a favorite among kids in the Dinosaur Hall. Take a look at the two Mosasaurs named Ian and Kimberly. These are not replicas but actual fossils found by a Tennessee college student.
Ranging from the Civil War to current conflicts, you will find anything from old cannons to hulking tanks. Planes and other aerial crafts will be hanging from the ceiling above. Wartime artifacts can be found all throughout this large two story exhibit as well.
The Transportation Gallery is a unique and ever-changing part of the Discovery Park.
Old cars like the classic Ford Model T up to the race car that Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove for NASCAR. They will change out the different vehicles from time to time so you never know what might be in there when you go. Lining the exhibit you will also find items surrounding the automotive culture.
Stepping outside you can explore the pioneer period with The Settlement.
This exhibit is built from carefully restored period log cabins and other structures from that time. The Settlement is just like walking back in time to the days when the great expanse of our nation was on everyone's mind. Exploration is always at the core of who we are as people and walking in the footsteps of those gone before us is a welcomed treat.
Special attractions can be viewed and experienced for an added cost at Discovery Park as well.
