My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
Zoos are always an exciting way to spend the day. Seeing all of the happy animals frolic around is simply adorable. To get a chance to see exotic creatures, you *could* travel halfway around the world to see them in their natural habits, or, you could simply head to this little-known zoo in Eastern Tennessee. With a diverse collection of animal exhibits, Brights Zoo is one underrated Tennessee attraction you will want to visit.
As you travel south on Highway 11E, you will see a tall and colorful sign displaying the location of Brights Zoo.
The site looks a little inconspicuous; it certainly doesn't appear as though you could fit a 103-acre zoo there. However, hiding in plain sight is a zoo just waiting to be explored.
Just like any zoo, you will find a range of creatures from all over the world. Their primate selection boasts over a dozen species of primates. Watch as these playful monkeys hop, swing, and jump around in their exhibits.
They have three different species but one of the more interesting ones is an adorable cat called a Serval. The Serval comes from the Savanna and has the longest legs, relative to its body, of all the cats.
These adorable creatures only weigh up to 14 lbs, so they may be hard to spot but when you do you just may be overwhelmed by how cute they are. These critters naturally live halfway around the world but fossil evidence in Gray, Tennessee, has suggested that Red Pandas were once living in our state. To find out more about these fossil finds in Eastern Tennessee make sure to go to Gray’s Fossil Site which also has an excellent hands-on museum.
They have dozens of our feathery friends ranging from exotic parrots to more common geese. These beautiful birds are sure to impress with their brilliant colors and their melodic songs.
Among all of the rare animals, you will find the Two-Toed Sloth.
With a reputation as one of the slowest animals in the world, you shouldn't have trouble spotting this adorable mammal hanging upside down in his exhibit.
You can find so many more animals at Brights Zoo in Eastern Tennessee. With so many fun creatures you are sure to find plenty of reasons why a day spent with these animals is time well spent. For any more information on the Brights Zoo please visit the website and plan your next trip.
