The idea of a “saloon” may seem old school and historic, the kind of place Wyatt Earp frequented and folks gathered when the dust on the plains got a bit too wild. Here in Tennessee, the idea of a classic saloon is actually still alive and well at Twisted Oaks in Dowelltown. Sure, it’s off the beaten path, but just take a look at that exterior! The folks inside are kind and quirky, and you can always expect a good time when you walk through those wooden double doors. If you’re looking for a little bit of fun here in the heart of Volunteer State, then we just found it for you.
Inside, the rustic-inspired interior only adds to the experience. The folks at Twisted Oaks state, "We hate to classify ourselves as a restaurant or bar because we are so much more. Yes, we have a full-service bar and amazing food, but we also offer an atmosphere and experience that cannot be described."
The fun-loving staff makes for a great dining experience, whether you're visiting for a special event or just another Wednesday night dinner. Come for the prime rib dinner on Friday evenings, or stop in for live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.
There are both indoor and outdoor seating areas for your convenience, so no worries about bringing your little ones (to a saloon!? Yes!) and best friends. Just peek at the greenery visible from the patio. Gorgeous!
What's on the menu, you ask? Expect everything from a fried bologna sandwich to traditional wings and spinach artichoke dip. The burgers are UNREAL and served with kettle chips, and a side of fries or tater tots are a perfect addition to any meal.
How will you be indulging at Twisted Oaks? It's probably the one saloon in Tennessee where you'll feel comfortable bringing the kids, and they're bound to get a kick out of the whole experience.
You can visit Twisted Oaks for yourself beginning at 11 a.m. every day it's open, until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, until midnight on Fridays, and until 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 4 p.m. on Sundays. The eatery is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
