A moment spent in the heart of Chattanooga, Tennessee is a good moment spent, wouldn’t you agree? The gorgeous Scenic City resides on the southern side of the state, and it’s arguably one of the most rustic cities in Tennessee. Sure, we have Knoxville and the Smokies, Memphis and Nashville with their rivers, but Chattanooga has mountains AND rivers AND valleys. Ol’ Tennessee really shows out with this one – and we figured out the best way to enjoy it.
Sugar's Ribs is a classic, traditional bbq spot located high on a hill in Chattanooga. It's known as one of the top bbq spots in the United States, and is the best kind of place for a plate of meat and classic sides.
Sugar's smokes up spareribs, crispy on the outside and super juicy on the inside. They're smoked fresh, so you don't have to wonder whether or not you'll be leaving satisfied. No baby back ribs here!
Although just moments from the heartbeat of the city, Sugar's Ribs has a traditional feel spun together with a comfortable patio-centric setting. It's a great place for a low-key hangout with family or even a date night. Who can resist a view like that?
It may be an unassuming mom 'n pop joint, but Sugar's offers up a little something extra from the heart of southern Tennessee. The sauces are also made in-house, each one more delicious than the other. Make sure to try them all!
We'd also recommend getting dessert, of course. Tennessee is known for being a banana pudding haven, but if you haven't tried the creamy goodness from Sugar's you really haven't lived.
You can enjoy this view every day of the week, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and until 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. We'd recommend timing your meal for sundown, if you can. Visit for bbq and some hang time with some super charming goats at 2450 15th Avenue in Chattanooga.
After a perfectly rustic meal in the heart of one of our very favorite cities, you can head on out to view the stars in the Tennessee countryside. That sounds downright perfect.
