There are all sorts of incredible places to go hiking in Tennessee, but one of the most oft-forgotten and beautiful spots is perhaps the Stone Door Trail in Grundy County. The natural hot spot is known as a “scenic spot” in Grundy County, and the Beersheba Springs beauty boasts stunning views with a panoramic overlook to the east. Dogs can be brought along on the hike as long as they’re on a leash, and the kid-friendly hike is well worth an afternoon out and about in the Volunteer State.

Stone Door Trail is a fairly heavily trafficked trail found in South Cumberland State Park. At 1.8 miles long, the out-and-back trail is both family and Fido-friendly, making it perfect for a leisurely hike or nature trip.

The trail is partially paved and stroller friendly. With a 170-foot elevation gain, it's challenging enough to require a bit of exertion while still being easy enough for the little ones.

Although Stone Door Trail is accessible throughout the entirety of the year, it's recommended that folks visit from March until November for the best weather. Make sure to watch the trail, of course. Ol' Rocky Top tends to have a few surprises in its most natural spaces.

There are multiple trails that branch out from the Stone Door trailhead, making it easy to choose your own adventure. There's even a half-mile trail that's wheelchair accessible.
