My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
There is nothing like visiting a small town farm during the fall. This is the time of the year when I love to visit pumpkin patches, apple orchards, and see farm animals. If you are anything like me, then you can’t wait to visit your local farm to join in all the harvest time fun. Fender’s Farm in Jonesborough, TN, is one of those farms that just comes alive during the fall and is well worth the visit.
We first visited Fender’s Farm when we were on a scenic drive on Route 107. We decided to stop because the little stand was just too irresistible. Shopping around we saw painted pumpkins and various gourds for sale.
The place had serious curb appeal which is what caught our attention. The overflow of beautiful bright orange pumpkins, corn stalks, and mums, gave us the feeling that this was one of those quintessential fall places. Our instincts were correct.
We soon noticed a bunch of activity out back which prompted us to go take a look. They were just setting up for their big annual fall celebration and there were buildings with food for sale, like delicious authentic tacos.
The goats were certainly the star of the show with a big play area for them to have fun around in and even a cool hole-in-the-wall board where they could stick their heads out and greet guests. There were lots of other fun and game activities which included zip lines, a mechanical bull, and a jump pad.
In the way back we noticed a sign for an escape room. We asked a gentleman who worked there and he was kind enough to show us around the farm. He said that was one of their most popular attractions where participants would work through a spooky-themed escape room.
And nothing says “fall festival” quite like a corn maze! Every year Fender’s Farm changes up their corn maze to represent their farm in some way, but from the ground, visitors can participate in this classic fall tradition.
When the sun goes down, however, the corn maze takes a sinister turn. This haunted trek through the dark of night would be scary enough on its own, but creepy decor and lurking ghouls make it even more delightfully spooky!
If you have come from far away, there is no need to leave too soon. Book a night at this charming carriage house that is within walking distance of historic downtown Jonesborough.
Whether you are looking for a kid-friendly harvest festival, a ghoulshly good time, or a unique fall activity, Fender’s Farm is the perfect place to visit this autumn. For more information please visit the Fender’s Farm website.
