My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
Our state is filled with beautiful mountains and wonderful waterfalls. We could spend a lifetime exploring all of the natural wonders you can find in each one of our amazing forests. Tennessee is breathtaking, to say the least, and we love exploring every inch of it. Sometimes you stumble upon hidden gems that just add to the adventure. Finding something few people know about is always exciting. We found that to be true about this incredible waterfall trail in Unicoi, Tennessee.
Red Fork Falls is a short .6-mile out and back trail with only 164 feet of elevation gain.
This truly is a hidden gem because there is no trailhead for this hike. When you arrive you will see only a slight spot on the side of the road big enough for about four cars. Then you take the small path through the trees and onto an adventure.
Don’t let the short distance fool you; this trail can be difficult and has been the place of many rescues.
You will then be parallel with the first waterfall. The beautiful moss covering the rocks and the tranquil trickle of this small waterfall is peaceful. You can listen to the birds chirping and the water flowing down the stream.

The second waterfall is the stunning beauty you will want to see.
The water will free fall down a steep rock wall 60 feet to the pool below. This picturesque waterfall is perfect for photographers and nature lovers alike. Step out on the smooth rocks and just ogle at the majestic fall.
Hike down a bit further and you will be greeted with the last little waterfall which creates a nice calm pool below. With the large canopy of trees above you creating shade, the water is a great place to stick your feet in and cool off. This will feel like an oasis in the woods.
This is a short and sweet trail that will bring you down to three waterfalls. There is beauty to see but this hike can be steep and dangerous. The rocks are slippery and the trail is steep. Take it slow and enjoy this hidden waterfall trail in Unicoi, Tennessee nestled in the Cherokee National Forest. Check out this video from Adventuring in the Moment to witness the surreal beauty but also the torturous adventure that can be had on this trail.
