…and drinks, for that matter. For some folks, heading out into the countryside is a way to clear their head and become one with nature. They crave hikes and lakeside walks, alone time in them mountains or a quiet moment spent in a meadow. For us? We’d like to eat and delicious meal surrounded by nature and call it a day. No need for calorie burning — we’ll take some hardcore consumption and see you on the other side. We’re heading out to Woodbury, Tennessee today to see what Short Mountain Distillery has to offer! (Spoiler: it won’t disappoint)
The Short Mountain Distillery in Cannon County has its roots deep in the history of Tennessee whiskey. Though the distillery itself is less than 10 years old, it's full of tradition.
While the current owners have only been operating there for a short time, the distillery's cave spring is said to have been used by moonshiners to produce moonshine that was sold by Al Capone's speakeasies.
The cafe serves creative cream-of-the-crop country cookin' for Cannon County locals and visitors alike. The menu changes weekly, so you can go frequently and never get the same meal twice.
Plus? It's on some of the most beautiful land in the state. The whole distillery sits right on the 300-acre farm that the owners operate as a fully functional farm as well.
The cafe serves up great food, of course, but it also offers the opportunity to order great Short Mountain cocktails to enjoy. No matter what you get, you can't go wrong.
The Cafe is open from March through the end of December on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. They're also open Friday nights from 6 to 10 p.m. Visit them at their farm in Woodbury at 8280 Short Mountain Rd.
