A good sandwich seems to be a classic part of an all-American experience. Snag one for the road, on the way to work, pack a few in a cooler for the kids and have a picnic in the heart of the south. Unless you hate bread, meat, cheese and all sorts of delicious condiments, a sandwich is perfectly customizable for any and all folks. Mitchell Delicatessen has gained a cult following across the state of Tennesee, putting East Nashville on the map before the city became a booming southern metropolis.
Mitchell just celebrated its tenth anniversary in East Nashville, and though it has expanded from its first tiny space to a larger, more spacious spot in Riverside Village, it's managed to retain its small-town charm.
This fun and quirky local deli offers up artisan sandwiches with locally sourced ingredients, a salad and breakfast bar, their homemade soups are nothing to scoff about.
Can we just talk about how incredible this jalapeno pimento cheese sandwich looks? The pimento is made in house and slathered thick on whole wheat bread.
If you're looking for something delicious in the morning, don't turn up your nose at Michell's breakfast offerings. This breakfast burrito is stuffed full of chorizo, bacon, guacamole, potatoes and a whole heap of melty cheese. Yum!
Their breakfast hot bar is also a must-visit for folks who are looking for a stick-to-your-ribs meal that doesn't cost an arm and a leg or require you to spend hours in the kitchen. Their biscuits and gravy? A must try.
You can visit for yourself from 7am to 9pm daily, unless you come by on a Sunday when hours are from 8am to 4pm. We can't wait to see you there! And we'll be ordering the turkey and avocado sandwich, in case you're curious. It's crazy good!
