Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! has become a name synonymous with strange. You may have seen the show when you were younger or were fascinated with the books, but either way, it’s nothing like seeing this museum in person. Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Gatlinburg takes some of the weirdest things from around the globe and showcases them for guests to see. You may think you know weird, but it’s nothing like the exhibits you will find as soon as you step inside.
In a town filled with big and eye-catching attractions, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! still stands out.
The three-story building is designed with vines, tree bark, and rocky outcrops. If that weren't weird enough, large woodland creatures like black bears and a scurrying raccoon complete the weirdly wonderful scene.
An elevator will take you to the third floor and once the doors open, it's like you have stepped into a jungle of weird, with exotic items and strange totems.
A mummified person, a replica of Hogwarts made of matchsticks, or a megalodon submarine sculpture complete with miniatures operating inside, are all just examples of some of the cool things you'll discover in the museum.
Open up boxes, turn on lights, or operate buttons to see all the different things that can happen. Just know that some of them are designed as funny tricks... so maybe let one of your friends try things first.
Other interactive exhibits have you making shadow figures and drawing with the light on your phone, but our favorite is the kaleidoscope room.
This large room made of mirrors blasts loud dance music while a projector displays fun colors and images that swirl and bounce off the mirrors. The whole thing can be a bit disorientating, which makes this a great addition to the strange findings at the museum.
Among the exhibits, the animal kingdom section is one of the most fascinating.
Learn about weird anomalies in nature like creatures that had double heads or extra legs. Read all the signs hanging alongside each animal, like the story about a bear knocking on someone's door.
Overall Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in Gatlinburg, is a really fun trip through some of the strangest things you have ever seen. It may be gross at some points, fascinating during other times, interactive and fun along the way, but always weird.
