The house was once known as "Swan Pond" and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1969 due to its unique architecture and representation of life in the 1900's.
The house is currently maintained by the Knoxville Chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities after it was acquired in 1952. The association maintains both the house and the grounds for visitors.
