This Easy Fall Hike In Tennessee Is Under 2 Miles And You'll Love Every Step You Take
Tennessee is riddled with gorgeous hiking trails, from the mountains to the east, across the flat expanse of the Cumberland Plateau and where the state softens into the fields surrounding the Mississippi River. It’s not difficult to find someplace lovely no matter where in the state you live, but if you’re looking for a quick hike that’s rife with wildly beautiful foliage, rushing streams, and a beautiful, watery expanse? Then look no further than Radnor Lake.

Radnor Lake State Park is made up of 1,368 acres of day-use and state protected land. Located right outside of Nashville, it's a go-to hiking spot for both locals and tourists.

There are more than six miles of hiking trails that can be used for everything from hiking to wildlife photography and observation. Keep in mind, however, that pets, jogging, and bicycles must be kept to the paved Otter Creek Road Trail.

Radnor Lake State Park is a host to multiple learning events for children and wildlife enthusiasts, and there's a thriving volunteer group that helps keep the park clean and beautifully preserved.

There are multiple programs like wildflower walks and astronomy night hikes that are led and organized by local rangers, which makes for an exhilarating and educational experience in the heart of a metropolitan area.

The autumn foliage tends to explode come October, so we'd recommend visiting during weekday off-hours or coming early on a weekend. As Nashville continues to grow, so do crowds at this gorgeous getaway. It's one of the closest natural spots to the city so we can't blame folks — but sometimes it's good just to get away on your own, don't you think?

The Lake Trail is accessible and highly recommended for folks who possess all-terrain wheelchairs, which makes it easy for everyone to access and enjoy the space.

Have you ever been to Radnor Lake? Have you had the chance to observe waterfowl, owls and even the spare snake in their natural habitat?

You can visit Radnor Lake State Park for day use only at 1160 Otter Creek Rd. in Nashville, Tennessee. Have fun!
If you get hungry after your walk, there’s nothing like a culinary adventure deep in the Tennessee countryside.
