This Enchanting Hike Takes You Straight Through Tennessee's Very Own Grand Canyon
The Tennessee River Gorge is famed for its stunning views and beautiful look into the heart of the Volunteer States, but have you ever hiked through it? Pot House Trail is one of the most beautiful hikes in the state, in our opinion, and it takes you right along the edge of the Tennessee River Gorge. Whether you’ve been to Tennessee’s grand canyon yet or not, this is definitely a must for your 2018 bucket list.

Pot House Trail is a 3.5-mile loop that operates as a nature trail, set apart by numbered trail markers funded by the Tennessee River Gorge Trust.

The hike takes roughly two hours to complete, which is an apt time frame what with the stunning views and trail trivia found along the way. You can go jogging along the trail, but we would definitely recommend taking it slow to enjoy the experience.

The trail is well-known for being a part of what was once a thriving farming community and moonshine operation. It's a short trail just a hot second out of the city, one that runs along an old logging road and wide space along the river.

The views are truly second to none. At just twenty-five minutes from the heart of Chattanooga, there's really no reason to pass this one by.

The area is also dog-friendly, so no worries about bringing your best friend! They're welcome on your meandering hike through the wilderness.

We'd recommend visiting in the warmer months, but the trail operates throughout all seasons, so you can brave it through the chill if you'd rather. With views like this, we figure the weather just can't matter too much. We'll be there!
