When people travel in Tennessee, they often are traveling East. Let’s face it – East Tennessee is absolutely stunning. But because it’s so heavily trafficked, there are fewer hidden gems left to explore. For those, folks are wiser to look elsewhere in the state, especially in the expansive floodplains of the Mighty Mississippi. One such hidden gem is sitting right on the banks of Tennessee’s famous Reelfoot Lake and serves some of the freshest seafood you’ll find anywhere in the state. Check it out!
Fun fact about Reelfoot Lake: it was formed in the early 1800s when a large earthquake caused the Mississippi River to temporarily change course. The water pooled in what is now Reelfoot Lake before the river reset its course.
Blue Bank Resort and Restaurant is located outside the town of Hornbeak at 813 Lake Dr. Head on out there this weekend!
If food and views are your thing (are they ever not anyone’s thing..?), then you’ll love this stunning winery in Middle Tennessee where you can lounge under the oak trees all day.
