CoreLogic recently released their property, financial and consumer analytics and named Nashville as the windiest city in America. What does that mean, you say? How can that work?

The firm studied both wind events and wind gusts at ground level in cities that numbered more than 100,000 inhabitants. Normally, wind events are studied at weather observation stations or airports, but here is was based on property specific levels.

In a 24-hour period, Nashville took the top spot with 21 independent wind events and SEVENTY-TWO mile-per-hour winds. That's a pretty solid speed, folks.

Music City actually tied with Jackson, Mississippi who also had 21 area-specific wind events recorded in the area.

And don't forget little Clarksville! Located just outside of Nashville, the tiny town made the top ten at #9 with 70 mph winds and 15 wind events.

It's an interesting thing, to think of Nashville as a windy town down here in the south. We may not have the frigid winters and excessive snow of the north - but apparently we inherited their penchant for wind.
