Nashville, Tennessee is stuck hard in the middle of the Volunteer State and has become incredibly well known as a foodie city. Indulge in hot chicken and fried chicken, breakfast sandwiches on biscuits and bonuts. We offer up every kind of comfort food you can think of and then some – you can thank our creative locals for that. Still, every once in awhile we get a hankering for something a little different…and we think we just found it.
Although Nashville may be known for a different kind of meal, there's nothing wrong with a quick trip down the big easy - especially via your taste buds.
Voodoo Gumbo opened early last summer and quickly garnered local fanfare and scads of five-star reviews all over the internet. One of its biggest pushes? Quality and affordability.
Of course a classic Po' Boy is a must, and the jambalaya is made up fresh on the daily. French bread is served on the side and we'd recommend ordering the "New Orleans Bowls and Cups" if you're looking to try all sorts of city fare.
Voodoo Gumbo is really the place to grab crawfish in Nashville. Seasoned to a T and perfectly balanced with a bit of crunch, there are no regrets with this kind of lunch special. There are even kid-sized portions if you're bringing littles along, and you can choose friendlier palate fare like potato salad and french fries as well.
Would it be a New Orleans meal without beignets...? We're going to say no, so it's pretty great the Voodoo Gumbo offers some of the most authentic and puffy treats in Nashville.
