It may come as a shock to some that Tennessee, the southern bound Volunteer State, hosts an elephant sanctuary right in the heart of it. Yes, it’s true! Some of our most beloved animals retire in the rolling hill country of Tennessee, and it’s one of the sweetest and most heartrending stories we’ve heard in a long time. Although you can’t visit the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, you can still fall in love with the stunning place from afar.
The Elephant Sanctuary is located in Hohenwald, Tennessee, and makes it its goal to give individualized care to elephants who have spent their lives in captivity. This means any type of show elephant who has spent years performing in events like a circus.
There are elevent elephants currently in the sanctuary, and they range from 35 years old to 70 years old. Whether they spent their lives on a circus stage or a movie set, each one is given the chance to live out the rest of their years with the calming companionship of other elephants and caregivers.

Unfortunately visitors are not allowed in the elephant complex, although you can watch the "EleCam" on their official website. You'll have the chance to see the elephants experiencing their day-to-day routines without the strain of being watched.
