When it comes to barbecue, Tennessee knows how to do it right. But there’s one spot in the Nashville area that is making a pretty good case for Texas-style barbecue, and that spot is Judge Bean’s. The Judge himself grew up in Texas learning to cook authentic Texas dishes including his famous barbecue, and he has since brought his granddad’s recipes to Middle Tennessee. Don’t look for pork on this menu — you won’t find it. But after you try the legendary brisket and ribs, you won’t want any pork. Take a look!
Judge Bean's has multiple locations in Nashville after opening its second location in Franklin earlier this year. There's a reason this barbecue is spreading like wildfire.
Judge Bean's prides itself on its unique vibe that'll put you right in the heart of Texas ranch country. The spot feels both homey and rustic, making it the perfect spot for barbecue.
You might look for Tennessee-style pulled pork, but you won't find it here. It's all beef, and it's all smoked for up to three days in the cooker out back. They even get all of their beef shipped in straight from Kansas City.
They also serve up some more unique options like fried pickle spears and southwest egg rolls. Or if you want simple, you can just go for this sandwich, which is also incredible.
The Judge is happy to have you for his famous barbecue any day starting at 11 a.m. and until 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and 8 p.m. Sunday. Visit the new Franklin location at 509 Hillsboro Road.
