Tennessee has been known to throw a good party, especially since the state is home to reams of honkytonks and live music havens. Nashville is where dreamers come to create, and the hunt for fame has created a pool of talented musicians and artists that thrive on community and the ever-old art of creation. The popular Nashville Tomato Art Fest celebrates fifteen years this year, and we can’t wait to attend.
Nashville's Tomato Art Fest takes place in the Historic Five Points neighborhood of East Nashville, and is a late summer community event that encourages and celebrates the wacky and creative.
The Fest itself was founded in 2004 by Bret and Meg MacFayden, the owners of the local Art and Invention Gallery. What started as a neighborhood party to promote a gallery art show turned out to be one of the most popular and catching experiences on the east side.
Nashville's eastern neighborhood is already known for being the, "hip and happening" spot in the city, but the Tomato Art Fest brings folks from all over to celebrate, no matter where they make their home.
All sorts of vendors set up tables with their wares and eats, making it just as easy to enjoy an ice cream cone as a cold beer. This year you can experience a Bloody Mary Garden Party, live music on the 37206 Stage and even cooking demonstrations utilizing that lovely little fruit everyone loves.
An annual 5k is held on the early Saturday morning of the event, and it's one of the most colorful runs in the state. Whether you've trained for months or are just looking to cheer your neighbors on, we'd recommend pitching up early and perhaps even volunteering.
Have you ever been to the Tomato Art Fest? Will you be coming this year, for its 15th anniversary? This year you'll be able to attend the evening of Friday, August 10th and all day on Saturday, August 11th. Make sure you come early - that traffic can get dicey, and you'll want to eek as much out of the day as you can. Have fun!
We probably don’t have to convince you any more than we already have that this is the EVENT of the year but in case you’re curious – check out 2017!
What a fun adventure! While you’re on the east side of the city, you may want to check out this new taco truck. It serves up some delicious food, and we’re in love already!
