The city of Nashville has a myriad of eateries and cafes that are perfect for a Saturday morning cup of joe, but none of them are more passionate about the community than the Cafe at Thistle Farms. You’ll find it in West Nashville, and you can’t miss the lavender-ensconced exterior or prominent mural that states, “Love Heals Every Body.” We visited for ourselves and enjoyed a beautiful morning spent in the sunlight-strewn cafe. It’s perfect for a day spent working or even to gather with dear friends.
You'll find the Cafe at Thistle Farms tucked away on a once-sleepy stretch of Charlotte Avenue. The area has been revamped and reworked in recent years, resulting in a popular shopping district for locals and tourists.
Of course, it's the heart and hope of Thistle Farms that truly sets this local cafe apart. The eatery focuses on employing women who are survivors of addiction, trafficking, and prostitution, and Thistle Farms seeks to provide employment opportunities and familial support.
While the menu is great, it's the heart of the cafe that takes on a deeper meaning in Nashville. You're supporting a greater good when you order breakfast, and sales go toward improving local community.
Oh, and that MENU. Expect specialty sandwiches like a turkey bacon avocado or chicken salad on a croissant, as well as homemade goodies like chocolate chip and toffee cookies. Breakfast favorites include a breakfast biscuit topped with pesto mayo and buttermilk cheddar, and everyone raves about the fresh slices of quiche.
Visit the Cafe at Thistle Farms yourself from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday. The cafe is closed on Sundays.
