Nashville is known as a great city for adults, especially for folks looking for music-centric experiences and a neon-infused downtown, but the multi-faceted Tennessee capitol is full of surprises. Unbeknownst to many, is how Music City is also family-friendly and fun for your tiniest kids. Kidsville hosts experiences for children throughout the city, but it’s the Storybook Walk in Centennial Park that provides ample opportunity for amusement.
Kidsville is hosted and maintained by the Centennial Park Conservancy, and it was first known as "Kids Corner" at its original 2010 inception. What was once simply an area for children to play during the popular Musicians Corner events has become its own program for kids in the Nashville area.
The Conservancy has grown Kidsville to include over 100 free education experiences hosted both in Centennial Park and at other outreach locations throughout the city of Nashville. By utilizing the arts and the act of play, Kidsville has helped institute healthy development for the city’s children all free of charge.
The Storybook Walk is perhaps one of the most popular experiences hosted by Kidsville, as it is on display and easy for families to access throughout the year. Along a small path in Centennial Park, you will find pages of a storybook displayed. You can walk the trail and read the pages of the book with your kids, combining reading and time outside for a great family experience.
Here you can see a sign for the Storybook Walk, making it easy for you to recognize where the walk is and how you can access the story. There is also a small blurb on the author of the featured book and the illustrator.
The books change monthly, so you can come every month for a new experience. Kidsville does a great job with trail upkeep and making sure you can read the pages no matter the weather.
What a neat experience! Will you be bringing your kids along for a Storybook Walk sometime soon?
