Nashville has become synonymous as a foodie city for many, a homing beacon for folks in search of savory biscuits and all sorts of chocolatey summertime treats. Whether you’re seeking a GooGoo Cluster or hot chicken, Music City has a handful of spots that are sure to be perfect for your particular cravings. But what about when you’re looking for a bit of atmosphere…? Something heavy and dense, sweetened just right with a bit of a personal twist. Shugga Hi Bakery & Cafe stood out to us as a diamond in the rough, a truly personal experience in the heart of our great city. Care to join?
The Dickerson Pike establishment is owned by sisters Kathy and Sandra, two women with a heart for sugar and a whole lot of butter. Inspired by their mother, the girls' admiration and heart for pastries and good service has fostered a family legacy that spans straight through to Nashville.
Whether you visit for the bakery or the cafe, Shugga Hi only serves up homestyle recipes with a quirky little second generation spin. Can you see the waffle on that sandwich...? Because we most CERTAINLY have our mouths watering...
Sandra and Kathy take great pride in their bite of Nashville's bakery world and it shows. Shugga Hi opened in 2017, and has been treating every customer that walks through the door like family ever since.
Whether you're in the mood for cookies or cakes, something old or something new, Shugga Hi is ready and willing to work with you to find the perfect treat for your craving or family party.
The breakfast and brunch served on-site is downright delicious as well. We'd recommend indulging in the chicken and waffles, and make sure to invest in a side of country potatoes, too. You won't regret them!
Nashville isn't just a "growing city" - in some corners it still feels like just a small town, and it's places like Shugga Hi Bakery & Cafe that keep the sweet atmosphere afloat.
You can visit Shugga Hi Bakery & Cafe from Thursday to Saturday, 8am to 10pm, and for Sunday brunch from 9am to 2pm at 1000 Dickerson Pike in Nashville, Tennessee.
